September 1859 beobachtete und die zum stärksten Sonnensturm der letzten Jahrhunderte führte. Das DLR beobachtet die Situation mit besonderer Aufmerksamkeit. GENA ist eine standardisierte, kommerzielle Nanosatelliten-Plattform, mit dem Ziel Experimente und Technologien von Kunden schnell und kostengünstig in den Orbit zu bringen. Die Deutsche Raumfahrtagentur im DLR hat die Entwicklung von GENA mit Mitteln des Bundes anteilig gefördert.
